This Privacy Policy describes how Inburgering KNM ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information in connection with your use of the Inburgering KNM mobile application (the "App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data with transparency and care. Because the App operates primarily offline and on your local device, our data practices are deliberately minimal. Please read this Privacy Policy carefully to understand our practices regarding your information.
We collect only the minimum information necessary to deliver the core functionality of the App. This includes: (a) Local study data such as your progress through practice questions, error notebook entries, vocabulary and abbreviation bookmarks, and language preferences, all of which are stored exclusively on your device using secure on-device storage; (b) Purchase information, specifically a non-personally identifiable entitlement flag confirming whether you have unlocked the Lifetime purchase, as required by the App Store or Google Play Store receipt validation; and (c) Diagnostic information that is collected only with your explicit consent through your device's standard crash and analytics prompts. We do not require you to create an account, provide your name, email address, phone number, or any other directly identifying personal information to use the App.
The limited information described above is used solely to provide and improve the App's features. Specifically, local study data is used to track your learning progress, restore your session, and personalize the experience on your device. Purchase entitlements are used to unlock premium features locally. We do not use your information for advertising, marketing, profiling, or any form of automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects. We never sell, rent, or trade your information, because we never collect information beyond what is strictly necessary.
All study data, preferences, and error notebook entries are stored locally on your device using React Native MMKV, an encrypted key-value store. This data does not leave your device unless you explicitly choose to export it. We implement industry-standard technical safeguards within the App, and your operating system provides additional device-level protections such as encryption at rest. You retain full control over your data and can clear all locally stored information at any time by uninstalling the App or clearing its data through your device settings. We cannot recover your local data if your device is lost, damaged, or reset, as we have no remote copy.
We do not share your personal data with third parties for their independent purposes. The App contains no advertising networks, no marketing trackers, and no social plugins. The only third-party data flows that occur are: (a) Apple App Store or Google Play Store receipt validation when you make or restore a purchase, which is governed by those stores' privacy policies; and (b) Anonymous, aggregated crash reporting, which is only enabled if you grant your operating system permission. We do not engage in any cross-app tracking, fingerprinting, or sharing of identifiers with advertising or data-broker entities.
The App is intended for users preparing for the Dutch civic integration exam, which generally requires participants to be at least 16 years of age in the Netherlands. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 16. Because the App does not collect personal information from any user, the provisions of the United States Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) protections for minors, and equivalent laws in other jurisdictions are inherently satisfied. If you believe a child under 16 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can address the situation promptly.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or applicable law. When we make changes, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this Policy. If the changes are material, we will provide additional notice within the App or through other reasonable means. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information. Your continued use of the App after a change indicates your acceptance of the updated Policy.
